Women's Coalition Lamp Project Fund Raiser

If you recall, a few weeks ago I posted some photos of the lamps that some of our Palletteers were decorating for the Women's Coalition Lamp Project Fund Raiser. The event took place last night and, according to our "reporter" was poorly attended. However, our rep enjoyed herself, said the food was great, and ended up with some pretty neat items from their silent auction. The lamps are still available and will be on display at various functions, including Art Thursday, in the next months, so you still have time to grab one of these unique light pieces and support the Women's Coalition too.

Sprat Hall

It was a beautiful sunny and clear day when the Palletteers gathered on the grounds of Sprat Hall Estate. Animals were abundant-- horses, dogs, an iguana and many chickens and roosters, which made quite a racket. Several of them were in trees and one pooped on Carol's painting. Our hostess Joyce Hurd served us lunch in the beautiful dining room of the great house and gave a brief history of her family's (Merwin) connection with the estate. It was truly a memorable morning!

St. George Village Botanical Garden

Since I've been stateside, the blog has become more a community effort. Thanks to Emy and Elizabeth I have some good photos to post from Friday's paintout at the Botanical Garden. This is always a site that has an endless variety of subject matter and our Palletteers took advantage of quite a few of them.

Our up-coming Art in the Garden show has made the news!
Although I really miss all my friends and family on St. Croix, I think I made the right decision to head north to a "state of the art" facility. I am doing well and finished my 6th radiation treatment earlier this morning. My care has been first class and I've been embraced by true Southern hospitality. My only wish is that it will warm up faster. Can't believe I'm getting excited about weather predictions in the high 60's! Thanks for all your positive thoughts! Ginger
