September 23 found the Palletteers painting at the enchanting Estate Mt. Washington ruins and labyrinth. Emy reported that the group had a beautiful day at Mt. Washington, a nice change from all the rainy Fridays recently. Some of our people had never been there before and marvelled at the natural beauty and carefully preserved ruins at this "best kept secret on St. Croix." Nancy Ayer, the owner with her husband Tony, greeted the group for show and tell and said she is interested in buying paintings of the site. She will be looking for them at future art shows. Her gorgeous house is already full of paintings-- they have a fabulous collection of Merwins, etc.-- but she said she has a laundry where they spend a lot of time and she is using the wall space there for depictions of Mt. Washington. We adjourned to Bernie's for lunch and admired the murals in the works there by Carolyn and Elizabeth.
