Finished Mural

Elizabeth and Otella finished the Blessed Mother Mary Grotto mural at St. Patrick's school. Isn't it lovely? Great community service, gals!
Elizabeth is trying to get approval for another mural, to be painted this summer. If her plans are approved by the various "powers that be", the Palletteers will design the mural and supervise a group of kids who will paint the various scenes on a plywood wall surrounding one of our abandoned buildings in the town of Frederiksted. She estimates that the mural will be 12’ high and 52’ long. What a neat way to beautify Frederiksted while also giving our youth a wholesome artistic outlet for their energy!

Mural at St. Patrick's School

Some of you may wonder what the Palletteers do in their "free time." Two of our members, Elizabeth and Otella, have recently taken on the challenge of painting a mural at the St. Patrick's School in Frederiksted. After Philip excavated the necessary dirt from the area for them they began their painting. The photos below show one and two of their project.

Pelican Cove Condos

This past Friday our group was the guests of Roxi Hewerston. Pelican Cove is a condo complex located on one of St. Croix's most gorgeous north shore beaches.

Palletteers @ Polly's: another fantastic show!

Congratulations to Alma Winkfield and Marilyn May along with the participating artists for presenting a great Palletteer's art show at Polly's at the Pier in Frederiksted. Working in close collaboration with Polly's owners Steven and Seth, they gave us an impressive display of artwork as well as a wonderful opening party!

When I walked into Polly's I immediately noticed the artwork filling the walls. It was a delight to walk around and view the paintings, many rendering impressions of local sites.

Two things we can say about the Palletteers and Pollys: we sure know how to give a good party... and put on a great exhibit of local art! A GREAT time was had by all!
Thanks to Alma Winkfield and Otella Brontmier for supplying the photos!
