Our Glamour in the Garden

The night of the gala, our Artistree looked gorgeous, lit up and decorated with 92 mini pieces of art framed by Betsy Campen! It drew many admirers, rightly so!
To our contributing artists: Thank you! Thank you! When the live auction began, WAPA struck and all the lights went out, including those strung on all the trees! The Garden's new generator hadn't yet been hooked up so we sat there in the dark! Then people dug out their cell phones and flashlights while other quick thinkers went to their cars outside and turned them around so their headlights shone in to light up the Great Hall and the bidding began. It was still pretty dark ...I don't know how they managed to see the bidders. I don't know if it was due to the power outage or to the economy but the bidding was the lowest I've seen in years and it was a disappointing finale to the event. Ginger
