This month I find myself living in Florida for fortunately I dodged the hurricane bullets that hit my island home. Beach house survived, but island life without electricity is not for this old lady. Staying here until power is restored which meant I had to reinvent myself to City life. Joined the Gold Coast Watercolor Society and I am picking up every art class I can find. Also still painting en plein air.... did the telephone pole as a memory for my island friends for they had few standing after the storm.
The Palletteers of St Croix is a fun-loving, open group of serious painters of all skill levels who meet weekly to share the beauty and challenge of painting plein air on the island of St. Croix. They have been featured exclusively in the following shows: Art in the Garden, Palletteers @ Polly's, Art @ Top Hat, Upstairs at the Comanche, and The Palletteers Paint St. Croix (at CMCA). Email them if you want to join them: palletteers@gmail.com

October, 2017
By luck I missed the bullet and was able to fly out of St. Croix prior to the hurricanes. My house fortunately had little damage and is currently being repaired. However, I am not eager to return to the rock to operate a generator. I am waiting for the electricity to be restored so in the meantime I have joined Gold Coast Watercolor society and paint en plein air every Wednesday as well as taking some art classes.
This telephone pole was painted as a reminder to my friends on the rock what they used to look like. Thinking all the poles and electricity may be restored maybe by the first of the year. |
